“Applied and creative sports psychology”
Lorena Cos is a psychologist specialized in applied sports psychology. From her practice, she accompanies people who seek to improve their performance, manage pressure and also grow on a personal level. His work combines psychology, sports and personal development from a practical and creative perspective.
In this interview of Eholo Voices, Lorena shares her experience as a psychologist, the challenge of growing professionally, the importance of learning to delegate and what today allows her to enjoy her profession more calmly.
Psychology applied to performance... and to life
If Lorena had to define her therapeutic approach in a single sentence, she sums it up like this:
“Applied and creative sports psychology”.
His work moves in an area where psychology helps to improve performance, but also to better understand the personal processes behind challenges, defeats and moments of pressure.
Because in sports - as in life - learning to manage emotions, frustration or uncertainty can make a difference.
The biggest challenge: growing without losing your way
One of the most challenging moments in his career came when his project began to grow.
“The biggest challenge was growing up and not knowing how to respond to it.”
The increase in patients and responsibilities brought with it new needs: organization, management and decision-making.
The way to overcome it was clear: delegate, create a team and rely on management tools such as Eholo.
That change allowed him to recover the most important part of his work.
“The best time I would say is to be able to dedicate myself only to what I am, a psychologist, and not to all the thousand tasks I did before.”
Work more calmly
When asked what Eholo means to her, the answer is short but very clear:
“Company and peace of mind”.
Having tools that simplify day-to-day management allows attention to refocus on what is essential: the therapeutic relationship and professional support.
A profession that keeps expanding
Regarding the future of psychology, Lorena recognizes that it is a constantly changing field.
“This is progressing very quickly and I'm not sure how it will go. I don't think much about the future, but of course there is more and more expansion of the profession and more areas of development than before.”
New contexts appear every time where psychology plays an important role: sports, education, business or personal well-being.
Imagine the consultation five years from now
When thinking about the future, Lorena doesn't talk so much about rapid growth as about quality and stability.
“I imagine it calmer, with more quality for everyone and, above all, safer.”
A way of understanding the profession where balance and care for the therapeutic process occupy a central place.
