If you are a freelance psychologist or run a psychology clinic, you have probably heard of VeriFactu as that "technical tax stuff" that will eventually come around. Well, that day is now on the calendar. And the fines for ignoring it are serious.
Let's get straight to the point: what it is, when it affects you exactly, and why we have already solved it at Eholo without you having to lift a finger.
What is VeriFactu?
VeriFactu is the new system required by the Tax Agency to ensure that invoicing for freelancers and companies is unalterable and traceable. The days of creating an invoice in Word or Excel and being able to edit, delete, or "fix" it after the fact without leaving a trace are over.
Once it comes into effect, your invoicing software will have to generate each invoice with a secure, chained, and verifiable record, complete with its corresponding QR code. And if you work in VeriFactu mode, that record is sent automatically to the Tax Agency in real time.
This directly affects psychologists and clinics: the Tax Agency has been explicit that professionals such as psychologists, lawyers, or physiotherapists fall within the scope of the regulation as soon as they issue invoices using any computer program.
The date is here: January 1, 2027
VeriFactu comes into effect on January 1, 2027. And yes, it sounds far off, but in terms of adapting software, processes, and invoicing habits, the window is much shorter than it seems.
The countdown is already underway, and the sooner you have it sorted, the fewer last-minute scares you'll have.
What if I don't comply? Fines of up to €50,000
There is no room for interpretation here. The anti-fraud law establishes fines of up to €50,000 per fiscal year for anyone using invoicing software that does not meet the technical requirements for integrity and traceability.
And this is what surprises most people: you don't have to have committed fraud to be sanctioned. It is enough that your program is not adapted. In addition to the financial penalty, using an invalid system can invalidate your invoices, create accounting inconsistencies, and increase the risk of a tax audit.
So the question isn't "will this affect me?" It's "is my software already prepared, or do I need to fix it before the deadline?"
The good news: at Eholo, you don't have to worry about any of this
This is where you can relax. Eholo is already VeriFactu-compliant. You don't have to install anything, update anything, or change the way you work.
When you issue a final invoice from Eholo, the system automatically generates the secure record, the QR code, and all the traceability required by the regulations. We take care of the technical side and compliance; you simply keep invoicing as usual, only now:
- Save time. No more manual processes or wondering if your invoice is "valid" or not.
- Gain security and peace of mind. Every invoice is recorded exactly as required by the tax authorities.
- Forget about fines. You’ll be compliant from day one, without having to worry about updating anything before your deadline.
While other centers and professionals are busy looking for accountants, comparing software, or wondering if their Excel spreadsheet "counts" as a compliant billing system, you’ve already got it covered.
In short
VeriFactu is serious, it has a deadline, and fines for ignoring it can reach up to €50,000. The good news is that if you manage your billing with Eholo, this regulatory change isn't a problem you need to solve: it’s already taken care of.
Less paperwork, more peace of mind, and all your energy focused where it really matters: on your patients.
