What is electronic invoicing?
Electronic invoicing is a process of issuing, receiving and storing invoices in digital or electronic format. This system replaces traditional paper invoices, in other words, the concept of an invoice does not change, what changes is the format.
However, their shipment is subject to the consent of their recipient, which is not the case with traditional paper invoices.
Why do I need it?
According to the Law 18/2022, for the creation and growth of companies, since 2025, companies and professionals in Spain that carry out operations with other businessmen or professionals will be obliged to adopt electronic invoicing.
To comply with the requirements of the Tax Agency and to issue electronic invoices in Spain, it is essential to:
- Have a digital certificate to guarantee the authenticity of the invoices.
- Use approved billing software that meets established technical requirements.
- Include mandatory data, such as the invoice number, date of issue, amount, etc.
What is TicketBai and what does it have to do with me?
Electronic invoicing has been mandatory in the Basque Country for a few months now. Entrepreneurs in the region must make electronic invoices following a series of technical requirements. This system is called TicketBai and allows the Basque Provincial Treasuries to keep track of all the invoices issued.
